PROJECT SCOPE:
The site is located in the Fan District of Richmond--an urban setting. The focus of the project is an old abandoned carriage house, located at the back of the property and serving as a buffer between the alley and the yard. It had once been crudely converted to a garage, and now stood with raw plywood openings--exposing the interior to the elements.
The structure was completely gutted, even removing an interior brick wall. The concrete floor system was patched and sealed, and new French doors and windows replaced the old plywood openings.
The two-story space is intended to function as a guest house, meaning that a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom needed to be included in the design.
